In the spirit of continuous continuous improvement, Scott continues to update and add to these materials.
One key part of this program is Scott's insightful metaphor of the caterpillar and butterfly or "Teaching the Caterpillar to Fly." This framework creates an easy to understand, engaging look at the inevitability of the change process. It links to some crucial learning points on leading change, described, within, as "dis-unempowering" people as well as important lessons on perspective, leadership and creativity.
The illustration above, entitled, "Nobody Ever Washes a Rental Car," demonstrates the resistance that occurs when people don't feel ownership to a process. Push on someone's hand and they will naturally push back as resistance is a reflex for most people who feel pushed.
